Recently, the establishment of the China Wetland Conservation Association Plateau Wetland Protection Professional Committee and the Plateau Wetland Ecological Protection and Restoration Seminar were held in Kunming.
China's plateau wetlands are mainly distributed in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau and Inner Mongolia Plateau, covering 41.2% of the country's total wetland area. In order to strengthen the protection of plateau wetlands and enhance the scientific management of plateau wetlands, the China Wetland Conservation Association decided to rely on Southwest Forestry University to set up a plateau wetland protection professional committee, based in Yunnan, facing the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and Inner Mongolia Plateau, focusing on national wetland protection strategies and communicating Government management departments, teaching and research units, and wetland nature reserves and wetland parks in the field of plateau wetland protection promote the protection and management of plateau wetlands, scientific research, science and popularization, cultural promotion, and the rational use of wetland resources.
The meeting elected the director of the Plateau Wetland Protection Professional Committee, and the president of Southwest Forestry University Guo Huijun was elected; the "Working Rules of the Plateau Wetland Protection Professional Committee" was discussed.
More than 150 experts and scholars from management agencies, institutions of higher learning, scientific research institutes, planning and design units, and national wetland parks related to plateau wetland protection and restoration participated in the meeting.
