In the past, flooding occurred in the areas of Dashuying and the prospecting plant. The water depth was 60 to 70 cm, and the duration was at least 1 day. In several rains this year, the accumulated water depth of the flooded water in the areas of Dashuying and the prospecting plant was about 20 cm, and the natural water withdrawal time was significantly shorter than before. All the water accumulated within 2 to 3 hours.

In the past, when there was heavy rain, the submerged water in the lower layer of the Hongqiao Interchange was at least 50 cm deep, and in severe cases it was 80 cm deep. "The pipe network in this area is very severely deposited, and some drainage pipes have a cross section of only 30 to 40 cm." Guo Yonghua, the person in charge of the maintenance and improvement of the pipe network in Chunyu Road area of the drainage company, introduced the dredging and repair work of the drainage pipes around Shizui Station. The construction entered on July 10th, and some manhole covers were lifted. The water inside reached the manhole cover, and after more than 10 days of construction, it had dropped by about 80 cm.

The remediation this time mainly dredged 4030 meters of rain and sewage pipes on the east and west sides of Chunyu Road and 263 meters of Xicaigou river in the flood control channel. At present, 70 meters of dredging in the Mingcai section of Xicaicagou has been completed, and 200 square meters of silt have been removed. The rainwater pipe on the east side of Chunyu Road has dredged 200 meters, 11 inspection wells, and 220 square meters.

Guo Yonghua said that the washing vegetable ditch is 2 meters deep, but the silt is 1.5 meters. Due to the limitation of construction conditions, dredging can only be done by manual dredging. By dredging, the water level of the pipes and the washing vegetable ditch on both sides of the road is significantly reduced, which effectively relieves the submerged water.

The Niujiezhuang Tunnel and the 8km tunnel on the Guikun Highway are flooded every time it rains. After a rain in June this year, the deepest submerged water level in the Niujiezhuang Tunnel reached 3 meters.

Zhang Yu, the person in charge of the renovation of the area, said that the rainwater collection system on the road is not perfect, and the severe blockage of the collection system during the rainy season is one of the main causes of flooding in the area. It was seen at the scene that the ditch near the Niujiezhuang Crossing-Guizhou-Kunming Railway Tunnel was filled with thick silt and it was difficult to drain rainwater.

The Dongbaisha River, which is the main flood control channel in the area, is currently undergoing comprehensive water environment improvement. The upper reaches of the East Baisha River are two times wider than the lower reaches of the Niujiezhuang area, resulting in heavy rainfall. The river channel could not carry a large amount of incoming water upstream, and eventually poured back onto the road.

Drainage companies lay pipes and use rainwater ditches to transfer rainwater from the upper section of Niujiezhuang Tunnel and the upper section of Guikun Road to Dongbaisha River to alleviate the flooded water in this area. At present, the maintenance of the dredging of the rainwater side ditch (about 400 meters) of the Niujiezhuang through Guigui-Kunming railway tunnel has been completed, and the rainwater collecting cover side ditch 460 meters has been added. The pipeline in Zhuangxia Interchange area is about 30 meters. After the implementation of the project, no flooding occurred in the area in recent rainfall.
